What ages does the program serve?
The program is designed for children ages 3-10 years old with a parent/ guardian over the age of 18.
All children must be 3 on or before January 1st to enroll in classes.
Can siblings under the age of three attend?
In order to ensure the best experience for all participants, Miss Rogers Neighborhood is specifically tailored for children ages 3 and up. Our activities, content, and interactions are designed to align with the developmental needs and interests of this age group. Siblings, of the currently enrolled child (ages 3-10 years),who are 18 months-2 years will need to register for the course in order to attend classes and will receive a 25% discount on monthly tuition for each additional sibling. Enrollment fees are due at the time of enrollment for each child attending the program.
Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate children under the age of 3 years (on or before January 1st of the calendar year) without an older sibling who meets the age requirement to participate.
Parents and caretakers are solely responsible for the safety and wellbeing of their child(ren) during each class.
How long do classes last? What happens during a class?
Classes are 1 hour long and include an opening circle (~15 min) with sharing, singing, movement, and learning; guided play time (~40 min) with an engaging play invitation followed by child-led and guided-play; and a closing circle (~5 min) with gratitude and more! Note: it is always important to follow a child’s lead and we love for children to explore their own interests and experience the play and class environment in their own way and their own terms. There is no wrong way to play at Miss Rogers Neighborhood!
Can I drop my child off?
No. Each child must be accompanied by their parent or caregiver for the entire class session.
Can families try a class before enrolling in the program?
Miss Rogers Neighborhood will periodically offer single classes that families can register for to get the feel of the program. All attendees must be registered in advance so that we are able to properly prepare enough materials for all children. We do not allow walk-ups. We are unable to accommodate same day registration.
Miss Rogers Neighborhood is not able to offer make-up days or rain checks for missed trials classes. Refunds will not be offered for missed trial classes.
Miss Rogers Neighborhood also offers occasional “Bring a Friend” day where children who are actively enrolled in the full program may bring a friend to class. Friends of the actively enrolled children will need to register in advance so that materials can be prepared. Registration for friends must be completed by the legal guardian of the child.
Can I Pick and Choose which months my child(ren) participate in?
Unfortunately, Miss Rogers Neighborhood is not able to offer families the ability to pick and choose which months they plan to attend. By enrolling, you are agreeing to participate in the full 36 week program. Families will be billed for each month that they are enrolled in the program regardless of attendance as billing is set up on a month-to-month basis and not by class attendance.
When does registration start?
Registration begins in November or December with classes starting in January and running through December of the calendar year. Slots may come available throughout the year. Families registered on the waitlist will be contacted as slots become available.
How much does Miss Rogers Neighborhood cost?
There is a nonrefundable $50 enrollment fee per participating child which is due at the time of enrollment/re-enrollment which covers the child’s class shirt, adventure vest, and camping mug. These materials will need to be brought to class each week.
There is a $75 monthly tuition fee what is due on the 1st of each month for 12 months running from January to December of the calendar year. Late fees will be applied after the 10th of the month.
I am not planning for my child to participate for certain month of class, will I be billed?
Accounts are billed for each month that the child is enrolled in the program for that year regardless of whether the child plans to or is able to attend. Families are not able to pick and choose which months they will be billed for. Your child being unable to attend for an entire month(s) does not release the account holder from financial responsibility. The account holder will need to provide a written notice of withdrawal 10 business days prior to the monthly billing cycle of the first of the month in order to withdraw the child and avoid being billed for that month. Notice of withdrawal received with less than 10 business days will be billed without reimbursement.
What happens if I miss a class?
Miss Rogers Neighborhood is unable to offer makeup classes or tuition reimbursement for any that are missed for any reason. Since it is a progressive program where content builds each week, we are unable to offer makeup classes for any missed classes for any reason.
Do you offer refunds?
Refunds are not offered for any reason.
How do I withdraw from the program?
The account holder will need to provide a written notice of withdrawal 10 business days prior to the monthly billing cycle of the first of the month in order to withdraw the child and avoid being billed for that month. Notice of withdrawal received with less than 10 business days will be billed without reimbursement. Notice of withdrawal can be submitted through parent portal or the contact section of the website. Notice of withdrawal not in writing or that has been sent through any social media platform will not be processed.
Why can billing questions & notice of withdrawal not be submitted through social media platforms?

What happens in inclement weather?
Decisions about whether it is safe to hold class are determined by the teacher using local weather guidance.
The teacher will try to update families at least 90 minutes prior to class when possible using the parent portal (which will be sent to the message section of parent portal as well as the email used at the time of registration). If classes do have to be rescheduled for any reason, make up classes will take place at the same time and location on the predetermined make up days provided on parent portal.
Miss Rogers Neighborhood doesn’t adhere to “good or bad” weather but rather safe or unsafe weather. Classes may still continue despite rain, cold, or warm weather so long as it is deemed safe to play in. Families will receive updates about postponed classes on either Parent Portal (which also sends a copy to your email) or by email that was used at the time of registration. Miss Rogers Neighborhood tries it best to update social media regarding postponed classes but ask families to use Parent Portal and email as the primary source for class updates.
How do teachers foster a safe learning environment during class?
Each child is accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Miss Rogers Neighborhood leaders support parents and do all that they reasonably can to provide a learning environment that allows for safe risk-taking.
Miss Rogers Neighborhood leaders bring a First Aid Kit to class, which can be utilized by parent if needed.
A few, simple rules help to address most situations:
Children can explore on their own as long as they can still see or hear their guide or the Leader. Ultimately, it is the sole responsibility of the parent or caretaker to watch their child(ren) during class.
If children are taking physical risks, we check in to make sure that they feel sturdy and safe in their risk-taking.
Miss Rogers Neighborhood leaders encourage children to engage in risky play, but give clear redirection if or when safety and the safety of friends in the class could be compromised. For example, we celebrate that sticks are the #1 toy of all time, but we make sure that our sticks have plenty of space so they do not touch our friends’ bodies. Ultimately, over time, we want to help children learn how to learn their limits while still playing in a way that keeps them and their friends out of true harm.
We encourage children not to put nature treasures in their mouths.
What is the approach to health/illness safety in classes?
Before class: All participants, teachers included, are asked to self-assess for symptoms of contagious illness. If an explorer or guide has any of the following symptoms, they must stay home.
- Fever (100 degrees F or higher), chills, or shaking chills
- New loss of taste or smell
- Cough (not due to other known cause, such as a chronic or lingering cough)
- Sore throat when in combination with other symptoms
- Headache when in combination with other symptoms
- Fatigue when in combination with other symptoms
- Nasal congestion or runny nose (not due to other known causes such as allergies) when in combination with other symptoms
During Class: All participants follow all strategies that enable us to play safely together!
- Masks are not required
- We design our classroom spaces and activities so that we limit participants’ sustained close contact and practice giving healthy personal bubble space.
- We ask that eating happens before or after classes as to prevent distractions during instructional time.
- Families are encouraged to bring a bottle of water to each class.
- When temperatures are above 50-60 degrees, we try to provide a soap and water mixture or hand sanitizer for participants to wash hands as needed. We encourage families to bring a personal supply of hand sanitizer if they feel that they need it at each class.
